Amalfi and Sorrento Coast.....

I had previously been to Sorrento but the Amalfi Coast was new to me.  I decided to divide my time into 2 days one for the Amalfi Coast and traveling the Sorrento coast and another to visit Sorrento itself.

The day to the Amalfi coast was done by car/driver....Gianni Esposito from World Tours.  As we began the day these pictures will give you some insight into the traffic patterns encountered in Naples.....

I will also add at this point that the pedestrian takes his/her life in their hands crossing the street...no rules seem to apply.  You just get out there and hope to God you do not get hit!!  Taxi drivers are the worst...they have total disregard for any and all!!  That will be the end of my speech on what I think of Napoli drivers.

Okay....leaving the city heading south on the A3 past Pompeii....the Gulf of Napoli is visible most of the time during the day...Vesuvius is prominent in the morning sky....

as is a beautiful church on the hillside...

Here are a couple views looking back toward Napoli as we head South....

...then as wel proceed down the coast we wind up the hills and get a great view...

The isle of Capri in the far distance.....

The continual climb continues to provide amazing views.....from straight down to the water....

to a village in the distance....

...well just one mug shot.....with a preview of the beard.  I am shooting for a role as Santa Claus when I hit Chicago for Christmas!!

...the pictures can give you a preview...but nothing could capture being here....it is just beauty beyond belief.

We stopped at a road side overlook and found some "hot" spices for sale...and olive oil to go with it....
and some beautiful flowers along the path to the view of the bay....

Time for lunch....and believe me this could be used as a movie set....the view....to die for....and a floral proceed to the table...

...a closer look at the view in the distance....

Now it is off to Amalfi.....so quaint....so very cool.....

a ship in the harbour for the day....a fairly big sailing vessel.....

The village streets are narrow and filled with tiny shops....

Check out the floor of this shop.....glass!!!

The ever present Dom or main Church dominates the square....

I loved this fountain.  Look closely and you will see a village...people....houses....animals....very cool...and fish in the fountain.

But also a fountain for catching a quick drink....as seen here...

Time to head back to Napoli....oh how I hated for this day to end.....how about just one more look....
