Iguanas and Birds of the Galapagos....

The first few days in the Galapagos islands I saw few Iguanas....that all changed on Day 7...and Puerto Ebas.  The Marine Iguanas were all trying to catch the rays of the early morning sun getting warm enough before heading into the water....These are the only marine lizards in the World.

...and some just posing for the close up shots....

...and just one more....this is a Giant Iguana....

Let me switch gears....and show some of the many birds I saw in the Galapagos....I saw several Galapagos Hawks....this is a young hawk....

..a female with her eye on me.....

and a mature male Galapagos Hawk....

These are the Galapagos Doves....

An Brown Pelican...

The Galapagos Oyster Catcher...

Oh, almost forgot the Galapagos Penguins...

Probably one of the most famous of the birds of the Galapagos is the Blue Footed Booby....there are also Nazca Boobys and Red Footed Booby....first the Blue footed...

...with this guy coming up off the water....

The red footed booby....

...and the nazca booby...

There were many more.....a lot of finches.....some 40 varieties....(don't worry....I will not put them all up on the blog...)

Finally...the mighty Condor.....with a wing span of over 7 feet....these guys even have their own 'airport'...high up on the cliffs of an island...with plenty of space to make a take off over the ocean....first some chicks....

...then the big guys....first a mom with her chick...

The photo of the day for this blog......the sun seems to have the spotlight on paradise here in the Galapagos....
