Okay...the journey to Abu Dhabi is about an hour or so...and the desert of the area is in full view for part of that journey....it gives a good idea of that it was like here maybe 15 to 20 years ago...since this area is all very young. Take a look ...
But soon you find yourself engulfed in almost and oasis....a city erupts...with tall buildings....and mosque that is 3rd largest in the world behind #2 in Morocco and #1 in Saudi Arabia. The mosque n Abu Dhubi was so beautiful...so ornate...so picturesque I only hope that my photographs will provide some of that beauty to you. The first thing one notices is the stark white of the marble....
Now to the beauty within.....the lightening fixtures....spectacular....
And a room that is probably 3 football fields in size....Looking first to my left....then 180 degrees and to my right....
The crystal glass....mother of pearl and stone inlay.....
The beautiful arched columns and spires of the mosque....
The clock to identify time of prayers....and a "Female Prayer Hall"
and now just a few more random photos of the Mosque at Abu Dhabi....
Additions are still be made to the mosque...like tile for one of the many fountains...
Okay....now to the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi....this is a "7" star hotel in Abu Dhabi...we viewed it from a distance...much like going up to the White House and taking a photo through the fence. I wanted to go inside to see the vending machine which would allow you to purchase a bar of gold....just like getting a soft drink here in UAE....Okay...the Palace...
Okay...so we did not have a reservation...and probably because we arrived in a bus and not a Lamborghini or Ferrari....we did not make it any further. Oh well!!
That is it from Abu Dhabi....but I do have "special" Blog...on Formula One!!
